Church of Santa Maria in Domnica

 Rome - Celium

Church of Santa Maria in Domnica

Built in the 6th century on the ruins of ancient area of Caelian, the church was rebuilt in the 8th century and restored in the 16th century by Andrea Sansovino. This street ("Via della Navicella") takes its name from a monument of the 16th century in front of the church of "St. Maria in Domnica". It's a model of roman boat which probably reproduce a similar ancient monument dontated to the city by the roman soldiers.
