Hadrian's Temple

The great temple wad built in honor of the dead emperor Hadrian by his successor Antoninus Pius in 145 AD. Now the magnificent remains of the Temple of Hadrian stand among the beautiful 17th Century Piazza di Pietra. In 1695, the Roman building was transformed by Carlo and Francesco Fontana into the Dogana di Terra.
