The Forum of Julius Caesar

For his forum Caesar chose a central position at the foot of the Capitol, near the old Roman Forum which had by the time become simply too small to serve the needs of the capital of a territory that embraced almost all of the known world.

The Forum was consecrated in 46 B.C. and later finished by Augustus. It was the first of the so-called Imperial Forums,

It is usually closed but it can be clearly seen over the railings (see the photo).
