    Villa Celimontana

Villa Celimontana takes his name from the hill of Caelian one of seven hills of Rome. In the imperial roman age, the zone was seat of the ancient roman firemen (barracks of V coorte). During the Middle Ages, it became a pasture for sheep and cattle, a mine marble and a vineyard. In the 1553 the zone was bought by Mattei Family.

The Mattei Family are part of the Roman Nobility and also hereditary Roman Patricians. The ancient zone was trasformated in a colorful villa, it was adornated with antiques and trees (principally pines and oaks). The peacefull path of villa Celimontana that runs along the ridge is famous for its splendid panorama of the city and for its natural beauty.
