Villa Celimontana
Villa Celimontana takes his name from the hill of Caelian one of seven
hills of Rome. In the imperial roman age, the zone was seat of the ancient
roman firemen (barracks of V coorte). During the Middle Ages, it became
a pasture for sheep and cattle, a mine marble and a vineyard. In the 1553
the zone was bought by Mattei Family.
The Mattei Family are part of the Roman Nobility and also hereditary
Roman Patricians. The ancient zone was trasformated in a colorful villa,
it was adornated with antiques and trees (principally pines and oaks).
The peacefull path of villa Celimontana that runs along the ridge is famous
for its splendid panorama of the city and for its natural beauty.
